THE MEMBER of Parliament (MP) for Sunyani East, Mr Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh, was of the view that the Vice-President, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Election 2024 Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is sensitive to the plight of Ghanaians.
Mr. Ameyaw-Cheremeh made the claim without any evidence, but in order to convince the electorates of Sunyani East Constituency to vote for Dr Bawumia.
He went on to say that there was no way Alhaji Dr Bawumia’s government would disappoint the nation, and therefore, urged the electorates to vote for the NPP when they go to the polls on December 7.
Mr. Ameyaw-Cheremeh is aware of the facts that Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who is leader of the Ghana’s Economic Management Team (EMT) yet he argued that Alhaji Bawumia won’t disappoint the country.
Alhaji Dr. Bawumia as the current Head of EMT created hardship resulting in high cost of living, collapsed economy eliminating economic in bankrupt, led in the IMF Conditionalities with haircuts on pensioners.
Other handiwork of Dr. Bawumia are high cost of fuel prices, high cost of goods and services and Depreciation of the cedi – from Ghc3.80 to a dollar to Ghc17; Ghanaians are faced with high inflation of little over 21%. In addition to high unemployment and interest rates amongst others.
However in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, Mr Ameyaw-Cheremeh, NPP MP and Parliamentary Candidate for the Sunyani East Constituency for the December 7, 2024 general elections, thinks that if the electorates refused to vote NPP it would be politically and economically suicidal.

The country currently under Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia is facing serious corruption issues and excruciating economic problems, hence fear that the electorates will vote the NPP out of power by voting for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the presidential and parliamentary elections.
Mr. Ameyaw-Cheremeh, Board Chairman of the Bui Power Authority (BPA), the managers of the Bui Power Generation Station in the Banda District of the Bono Region granted the interview after he inspected the progress of work on the ongoing asphalt overlay of the eight-kilometre Sunyani town roads prior to the elections.
The Department of Urban roads is supervising the work on the government’s funded asphalt overlay which would not only facilitate thriving economic activities but also add up to the beauty of the Bono Regional capital.
In another form of deceit, he described the work on the project as a testimony of the Vice-President’s passion for development and commitment to listen to and tackle the pressing needs of the citizenry.
Mr Ameyaw-Cheremeh said the Sunyani East constituency would witness more development, only if the electorates voted for him and the Vice-President.
He therefore entreated all the electorates in the constituency to avoid the temptation of “skirt and blouse” voting, saying he was confident and convinced that with the level of development in the constituency, the electorates would vote for him and Alhaji Dr Bawumia.
That remains the surest way the NPP could retain political power and cover all the corrupt deals whiles claiming to continue with the perceived good work in bringing the development of the constituency, and the Bono Region to the next level.
