THE NEW PATRIOTIC Party (NPP) government’s economic record under Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is marred by staggering failures, a stark contrast to Dr. Bawumia’s previous posture as a champion of accountability.

Ghana’s public debt skyrocketed from GHC122 billion since 1957 – 2016, to GHC763 billion in 2024, whilst inflation surged to 54%, highest in the 4th Republic. Borrowing over GHC42 billion from the Bank of Ghana resulted in a GHC60.8 billion loss, exacerbating economic instability.
