THE FOUNDER of the Diaspora Progressive Movement in the United States of America (DPM), Dr. Lawrence Appiah has revealed that the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by the record-time failed President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, planned the Assin North by-election around Vice President Dr. Mahamoudu Bawumiah.

According to Dr. Appiah, the planning of the whole by-election was around Vice-President Bawumia from day one through to launching of a flooded AstroTurf to arranging for him (Bawumiah) to attend their last rally which was attended by all the party gurus across the country; which made Bawumia to come to the rally grounds after everyone including President Akufo-Addo.

At the rally, Alan Kwadwo Keyremanteng was ambushed when he was busily addressing the crowd and Vice-President Alhaji Dr. Mahamoudu Bawumiah badged in and everything had to stop at once, for him to take his seat before.

The President of the DPM also noted a poor manner in which the party carried out the reconciliation process between Charles Opoku and their 2020 Parliamentary Candidate (PC), Madam Abena Durowaa Mensah which was not completed. “They took the process for granted and acted as if Assin North was their stronghold”, he opined. “…to this, he predicted a similar problem is bound to surely happen again between Dr.  Bawumiah and Alan Kwadwo Keyremanteng.

NANA B, NPP NATIONAL ORGANISER.

Dr. Lawrence Appiah prayed that the just-ended Assin North by-election and the manner NPP planned it around Dr. Mahamoudu Bawumiah should continue for their defeat again come 2024.

DPM President further noted that one other mistake the NPP made was to let Akua Donkor to appear on their rally platform with Nana Akufo-Addo. In a statement sent to National Tymes, he described Akua Donkor as an embodiment of a joke in Ghanaian Politics; and to him, most NPP folks stayed home because of her.

“I don’t know what the NPP was relying on, but their expectations were too high. They behaved like they were in their stronghold, where some people there don’t think. Their messages were all about winning power and not about the welfare of the Assin North people”, Dr. Lawrence Appiah lamented in the statement.

DR LAWRENCE APPIAH, PREZ. DPM, USA.

Adding, he indicated that sending all the government machinery to Assin North to occupy space there was also meaningless at the time the country they have messed up is struggling to find solutions to her economic challenges. “This made them (NPP) think that they have the people to vote for them; if their party gurus who went there were given proper roles, Akua Donkor wouldn’t be on the platform with Nana Addo”, Dr. Appiah bemoaned.

The DPM President further pointed out that what equally got the NPP to lose in Assin North was that they have a puerile Henry Nana Boakye Bio (Nana B) as their National Organizer, who then failed as their Youth Organizer and yet, promoted.

“…if the NPP want to be a force in 2024, they need to find a new National Organizer before January 2024. Nana B talks too much without any actions and results”, Dr. Lawrence Appiah advised.
