HON. MEMBER of Parliament (MP) for the people of La Dade-Kotopon Constituency in Accra, Madam Rita Naa Odoley Sowah has hinted that no signs indicating that La General Hospital could be constructed now or in the immediate future for them.
According to the worried MP, the about $68 million loan the insensitive Nana Akufo-Addo led NPP administration took to construct La General Hospital could not be found.
Addressing a crowd that converged at La Market Complex after a Unity Walk over the weekend, she pointed out that the government demolished the existing building doctors and nurses were using in rendering services to the people of La and its environs, without any proper provisions.
The Hon MP noted that the demolition was geared toward votes buying in La ahead of 2020 general elections. The youth of the area turn the place into a football park. Meanwhile the Health Minister, Mr. Kweku Agyemang Menu on the floor of parliament stated confidently that construction of the hospital was half-way complete.
“However, this Minister of Health knew within him that he was lying on the floor of the house since there was and still there is no construction of hospital going on”, La Dade-Kotopon MP opined.
She iterated that the NPP went for this $68 million which was intended for the redesign and construction of the La General Hospital, but surprisingly the money cannot be traced and hence after demolition nothing goes on. And the youth in the locality are also playing football on the bear land.
Hon. Naa Odoley Sowah told the crowd that converged at the La Market Complex after the Unity Walk, that she was expecting the government to first put up a structure to enable the doctors and nurses to use in providing the needed health services, before demolishing the hospital.
The MP hinted that she had to spend about Ghc 6000 to support a structure for maternity clinic to serve numerous pregnant women in the area and beyond.
The unhappy La MP also complained bitterly about the demolishing of the Ghana International Trade Fare Centre by this same incentive NPP administration. This she said has resulted in lost of huge jobs which increased the unemployment rate in La.
All the party gurus who were present took turns to address the crowd on various economic, unemployment especially the corruption issues which engulfed the country.
La Dade-Kotopon NDC Unity Walk was attended by a huge number of party sympathisers and lots of gurus including Sylvester Mensah, former NDC Presidential Candidate, Ketu South MP, Dzifa Abla Gomashi amongst others.
