HUNDREDS (100s) OF PRIMARY and basic school children have invaded the palace of King Nii Ayitey Anumle Oyanka I, for learning materials to enable them to go back to school as the first term began last week.
As part of his social intervention to ease the plight of his people, Nii Oyanka I, chief of Oblieman in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region has distributed thousands of exercise books to primary and basic schools’ children whose parents are struggling to buy such materials for their wards.
The initiative forms part of Nii’s activities to help reduce the suffering of parents under this difficult economic conditions in recent times.
According to him, this was one of his numerous initiatives to be embarked on to help the people in his jurisdiction and beyond.
“Our concern now is to give better life to our future leaders and to help their parents and guardians in our small way to cater for them. The people are faced with hikes in prices of goods and service including the price of education materials such as exercise books and text books amongst other materials.
These compelled some families to rely on external assistance, and hence rushed their children to King Nii Oyanka’s palace for his usual support.
King Nii Ayitey Anumle Oyanka’s intervention was seen as timely and a step in the right direction. Parents of these beneficiary children were grateful to the kind hearted Chief of Oblieman for support.
They indicated that following the economic hardship they find it very difficult raising money to learning materials that were cheap some years back. And Nii appears to always intervene; to this they prayed for God’s guidance, long life and further pray for God to grant his heart’s desire in his endeavours.
