The NEWLY introduced “Policy Order” by the Nana ATHE kufo-Addo led New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has informed Ghanaians how to sell their goods or items without crediting them to the poor Ghanaian workers.
The people who sell clothing, footwear and food items amongst many other things are today refusing to sell their goods or items on CREDIT due to government’s newly introduced clandestine policy of hourly and daily upward price adjustments of these goods/items.
Those who provides services posited that they no longer get machine valuables on credit to provide services to the general public; “even some government institutions are also not given out services or items on credit”, this portal was hinted.
A market survey conducted by Nationaltymes.com in some parts of Greater Accra, Ashanti, Volta and the North Regions, according to dealers and sellers of such goods or food items asserted that when they dare sold their items on credit they would lose.
They opined that the newly introduced policy in disguise for the hourly and daily upward price adjustments of goods would not encourage them to also try in anyway sell their goods or food items on credit for the buyer to pay between 2 or 4 days late; else, it would affect their business.
They cited government workers and other monthly salary workers are most of those who come to buy their goods on credit basis and pay back after they receive their salaries.
In the last 4 years, government workers who earn between Ghc500 and Ghc1600 have been buying some food items on credit and pay after they receive their salary.
These meagre salary earners, today, cannot do anything with the same salaries due to Nana Akufo-Addo’s new policy order of hourly and daily upward price change. According to some of these salary earners, they are servicing loans with two-thirds of their earnings just to enable them make a living.
Others who hinted this portal indicated that because of the loans they took from institutions such as Ezwe, BAYPOT, Quick loans, DCI, Dalex among others, they go home with Ghc200; but for Bank Over Draft (OD) some could go home with at least Ghc300 or Ghc400 together with their Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) depending on their base pay which could not make them survive the hardships they are encountering as a result of the daily increment in goods and services.
These people have wives and children they cater for, aside other dependants. They also pay for their rents of which today the rent advance for just a year takes only the “rich” to pay but not a salary worker whose salary has lots of taxes on it before the monster loans deductions.
The worse of it all, is also the HIGH and KILLER Transport fares draining the meagre salaries and leaving the workers penniless.
Even those who earn a little better salaries are also crying because of the new order. It is about time government sat down, listens to the cries of the citizens and take measures to resolve this catastrophic economic mess to salvage the situation.
