There were tensions all over the country on November 17, 2021, when the President Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo through the Minister of Finance And Economic Planning, Ken Ofori Atta presented before parliament the “Budget Statement” for 2022.
During his presentation, he has indicated that Ghanaians are going to pay what we called E-levy. This Electronic Transaction Levy simply means, whenever there is a Mobile Money Transaction, that’s (MoMo withdrawal) more than 100gh, there will be a 1.75%, aside the P to P charges by the service providers.
In fact, the Ghanaian populace were very angry by this decision of the Pesident to tax the already overburdened Ghanaians who most of them losses their jobs, as a result of the pandemic, some graduates are roaming on our streets withou job, inflation on commodities as we are in a monopolistic economy, etc, the President has no sympathy on the citizens but to tax them again.
Since the budget was presented to parliament, the NDC side in parliament vows to make sure this killer E-levy is taken-off from the budget
If we could all recall, the the President through this same Ken Ofori Atta was pushing to sell out our royalties, that’s our mineral resources to a company oversea but the same NDC MPs stood in to fight for Ghanaians, after that agenda has failed, they maneuver their ways to bring in the killer MoMo tax or E-levy.
When all the 13 NPP MPs on the financial serving committee voted for the passage of the levy, all the 12 NDC MPs on the committee voted NO, this should tell you the kind of NDC MPs we have in parliament.
While Ghanaians are suffering to pay their taxes and make ends meet, the NPP government is looting our monies, sharing it among themselves, their families and friends, what a wicked political party!
Just few days ago, the NPP held a conference to amend some parts of their constitution, which it was alleged that over 40 million Ghana cedis was spent, yet, they couldn’t achieve their aim, rather, John Dramani Mahama was the topic throughout the program and they will use another taxpayers money to organise another conference with another expenses. In fact, we are suffering.
I want to assure the NDC MPs that, per their efforts so far, Ghanaians are happy about it which will pave way for them in 2024 election, Ghanaians are watching.
In fact, yesterday, was when I saw the enthusiastic nature of the NDC MPs to protect the vulnerables in our society. While NDC was preventing Mr. Joe wise the first deputy speaker from voting, the NPP side was seen pushing for him to vote so they could have the E-levy passed. It is clear that NDC is Ghana, while NPP is parochial interest individuals. Nothing more nothing less.
God Bless NDC MPs, We Are Watching.
