Motor bike dealers at Caprice within the Ayawaso Central Municipality, have lost huge number of their motorbikes to a strange fire.
The fire destroyed closed to 40 expensive motorbikes which runs into thousands of Ghana Cedis, as some of the bikes cost between Ghc2,000 and Ghc25, 000. 00. The bikes were in types, huge executive type and jangle motorcycles amongst many other types.
The Motorbike business around that area is the only means of self-employed for some youth living within and around Avenor, Accra Newtown, Nima and Maamobi and beyond and some of dealers have families.
According to some eye-witnesses living in the area, the fire started in the dawn at about 4:30am last Sunday and Ghana National Fire Service, GNFS managed to bring the fire under control.
They added that the swiftness of GNFS curtail the fire so fast that it could not excalate to either sides of other shops and yards where huge number of motorcycles are packed.
These crying motorbike dealers could not control their tears because they are thinking deep how to come by money to start all again following the on-going current hardship in the country where it is very difficult for anybody to come by money.
In interview with Nationaltymes.com one of the victims, Gideon Apeyon who lives at Aklamah, near Amasaman said he couldn’t get to the scene on time when he had a call about the fire for fear of getting BP; so he relaxed closed to an hour before he made it to the place.
Moro Adams aka Winter, another victim lost words, but managed to add that it was all his savings and he does not know what next to do again as a family man. Others could not even say a word and they have to leave the scene else it could affect them healthwise as they were sobbing because they could not let it go.
Although there was no casualty, but it also saddened them more when the Ayawaso Central Constituency Member of Parliament, MP, Henry Quartey who lives nearby did not passby.
The sad situation forced these fire victims to sell all the burnt motor bikes to scrub dealers who took advantage of the situation to also buy items at cheaper prices.
They are appealing to any philanthropist or anyone who will feel for them to come their aid for them to bounce back to business.
