Federation of African Journalists, FAJ in collaboration with GJA begins a two-day conference on June 1, 2021 in Accra, Ghana.
The conference is expected to examine the worrisome erosion of media freedom in many countries in Africa including Ghana and propose measures to reverse the trend.
The Leadership of National and Regional Media Organisations would also consider the general perilous working conditions of journalists in member countries like Ghana.
In a statement GJA President and FAJ Steering Committee Member, Dr. Affail Monney issued in Accra indicated the conference would explore viable options to strengthen the bargaining capacity of journalist unions in Africa.
Adding, he said the conference is further expected to come out with ‘Accra Declaration” which would articulate the future direction of journalism in Africa.
The President of FAJ, El – Sadiq Ibrahim Ahmed Ibrahim and a representative of the African Union Ambassador Ahmed Salah have already arrived in Accra for the conference.
