One of the Civil Society Organisations, CSOs in the country called Care for Free and Fair Elections, Ghana, (CARE – GH) has pleaded with the parliament of Ghana and the Diplomatic Community to as matter urgency caution the Electoral Commission, EC over unlawful activities.
CARE – GH. appealed with the International Criminal Court, ICC to also direct it lense to Ghana to help call Jean Mensa and Dr Bossman Asare led Electoral Commission to order following the suspicious attitudes towards this year’s elections.
According to CARE – GH, the EC Bosses Jean Mensa and Dr Bossman Asare are disregarding the law which says the number of voters verified manually should be separated from the number of voters verified biometrically with the Biometric Verification Device (BVD).
David Kumi Addo, Executive Secretary of CARE – GHANA explained in a media encounter in Accra that anything less than what the law says could create problems and mistrust in the EC’s work.
EC led by Jean Mensa and Dr Bossman Asare appeared obstinate to the truth and consistently inconsistent in the manner they run the institution. Mr. Kumi Addo added that the activities of EC is full of suspicious with questionable moves which could bring trouble to the country if they are not cautioned.
He indicated that since these Jean Mensa and Bossman Asare refused to separate the number of manually verified voters from those who would go through biometric is tertamount to election rigging.
He argued that the Commissioners who are expected to be neutral, their actions would rather allow individuals not on the voter register to vote without detection and endup rigging the elelctions.
David Kumi Addo, CARE – GHANA Executive Secretary was not impressed with the behaviour of the Electoral Commissioners towards the handling issues raised by the key players of elections. It behoves on the EC to ensure 2020 elelctions is peaceful.
