The Ghanaian media at the press conference organised by the National Democratic Party, NDP in Accra have left the conference confused.
The NDP also refuted the claims making rounds that Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, a widower would not run for the 2020 general elections. Nana Konadu has just lost her husband, Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings who is yet to be buried.
NDP was formed by Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings around 2012 when she lost the NDC Presidential primaries to the Prof. late former President John Evans Fiifi Atta-Mills.
The General Secretary of the party, Alhaji Mohammed Frimpong alleged that the late former President Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings has resigned from the opposition NDC.
He also informed the media amongst other things that former President Rawlings has part of the Nana Konadu’s NDP since its inception in 2012.
He said the NDC vilified the late former President Rawlings yet when he died they want to take advantage of his desth. Alhaji Frimpong was unhappy the NDC are eulogising Mr. Rawlings for his immersed contribution to mother Ghana and as the first President of the fourth Republic.
Alhaji Frimpong could not respond to the media amongst others the prove to the effect that former President Rawlings resigned and he was not part of the NDC until his sudden demise.
This brought the conference to an abrupt end, where the media became more confused.
The press conference was held at Alisa hotel in Accra admits heavily armed police men and some other persons in ordinary cloth purported coming from the national security outfit with side arms on them just for that press briefing.
Checks by National Tymes indicated that the late former President Rawlings has never written to the NDC or verbal communicating his resignation from the party.
Further checks indicated that until his sudden demise, Mr. Rawlings chairs the Council of Elders of the NDC, and takes part in some meetings that the party holds.
