Care for Free and Fair Elections Ghana, “CARE” GHANA and three others have dragged Ghana’s Electoral Commission, EC to Court for its clandestine dealings.
“CARE” GHANA filed a suit at the Human Rights Court praying the court to among others compel the Electoral Commission, EC to furnish the parties in the suit with the 32,621 names.
The EC claimed it had removed the aforementioned number of names from the voter’s register with impunity and placed in the multiple and exception list on the blind side of the parties.
The EC in a statement read in parliament on November 7, 2020 stated that 18,619 are on the multiple list and 14,002 on the exceptional list.

“CARE” GHANA DRAGS EC TO COURT TO FURNISH US WITH THE OVER
32,000 NAMES THE EC CLAIMS IT HAD REMOVED FROM THE REGISTER
Care for Free and Fair Elections Ghana “CARE” GHANA and three others have filed a suit at the Human Rights Court praying the court to among others compel the Electoral Commission to furnish the parties in the suit with the 32,621 names the EC claims it had removed from the voter’s register and placed in the multiple and exception list. The EC in a statement read in parliament on 7th November, 2020 stated that 18,619 are on the multiple list and 14,002 on the exceptional list.
However, fairness and transparency require that every individual who’s name have been expunged from the voter’s register by the EC is made aware of his or her status and given the right to choose the options available for redress especially if any of these individuals feel unfairly treated.
This move is necessitated by the EC’s refusal to meet “CARE” GHANA’s demands in a letter written to the EC on the 17th October, 2020 demanding the publication of the full list and details of the 32,621 names the EC claims it had remove from the register and therefore prevented from participating in the upcoming elections.
This is to ensure the protection of the constitutional right of every single eligible voter.
