IN A GROUNDBREAKING appointment, the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has named Jacob Adongo Atule as the Deputy Acting Chief Executive Officer (Finance and Administration) of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA).
His appointment, effective January 27, 2025, is a recognition of his over a decade of service, expertise and commitment to youth development.
However, instead of a smooth transition into his well-earned role, some individuals are working behind the scenes to sabotage him. Their reason? His visual impairment.
A Champion for the Blind and Persons with Disabilities
Jacob is no stranger to adversity. As a dedicated member of the NDC Communications Team, he has been an unwavering advocate for persons with disabilities, particularly the blind.
Through his work, he has given a voice to the voiceless, fought for inclusion and helped shape policies that benefit marginalized groups. His long-standing dedication to the cause makes his appointment not just a personal achievement but a win for the disability community.

Experience Over Prejudice
For more than ten years, Jacob has served the Youth Employment Agency, demonstrating competence, leadership and financial acumen. His track record speaks for itself – his blindness has never been a barrier to excellence. If anything, it has fueled his relentless pursuit of fairness, accessibility and efficiency in public service.
Yet, despite his qualifications, some detractors are pushing back, undermining his capabilities simply because of his disability. This blatant discrimination is not just unfair – it is unacceptable.
Breaking Barriers, Making History
Jacob’s appointment is a monumental step towards inclusivity in leadership. It challenges societal biases and proves that competence – not physical ability – should be the benchmark for leadership. His story inspires millions of young people, especially those living with disabilities, proving that they too, can rise to the top through hard work and resilience.

A Call for Support and Justice
Now, more than ever, Jacob Adomgo Atule needs the support of all well-meaning Ghanaians. Those attempting to sabotage him must be exposed and held accountable. Ghana cannot afford to lose a leader who has dedicated his life to uplifting others, simply because of prejudice.
To his detractors, the message is clear: Disability is not inability. Leadership is about capability and Adongo Atule Jacob has more than proven his worth.
To Jacob, we say: Press on! Your achievements will silence your critics.
