PRESIDENT JOHN Dramani Mahama has named Hon. Sylvester Adinam Mensah as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Export-Import (EXIM) Bank.
Hon. Mensah is set to spearhead the bank’s mandate to drive Ghana’s transformation into an export-led economy, as outlined in the Ghana Export-Import Bank Act 2016 (Act 991).
His new role will involve facilitating trade between Ghana and other countries, supporting overseas investments by Ghanaian businesses and addressing key market inefficiencies to enhance Ghana’s competitiveness on the global stage.
A seasoned finance professional and former senior banker, Sylvester Mensah brings a wealth of experience to EXIM. Renowned for his expertise in public sector banking, fund management and strategic financial management, he is a Fellow of the UK’s Institute of Business Consulting (FIBC) and a Certified Strategy Professional.
Hon. Mensah has an impressive track record of delivering innovative financial solutions. As the Head of Public Sector Banking at Intercontinental Bank (Ghana) Ltd, he established robust credit risk frameworks and provided strategic investment advisory services to public sector clients.
He also served as Member of Parliament for La Dade-kotopon Constituency and later as Chief Executive of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), where he reformed Ghana’s health insurance scheme to improve efficiency and expand coverage.
Currently a Senior Lecturer at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) and an Adjunct Lecturer at the Nobel International Business School, Hon. Mensah is a faculty member of the Certified Strategy Professional programme.
He has over 20 years of experience teaching Corporate Strategy, Strategic Management and Strategy Execution.
Hon. Mensah holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Ghana Business School and an MBA in Finance from the University of Leicester, UK. Additionally, he has earned several certifications and diplomas from prestigious institutions globally.
With his proven financial and managerial expertise, Hon. Mensah is poised to drive GEXIM’s mission of building a sustainable export-led economy for Ghana.
