ELECTORAL COMMISSION BOSS, JEAN ADUKWEI MENSAH.

TENSIONS have reached a boiling point in the Assin South Constituency of the Central Region as furious NDC supporters invoke curses on the Electoral Commission (EC) and some executives of their (NDC) party over what they claimed to be a rigged election.

The controversy surrounds the parliamentary race, where the incumbent MP, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour of the NPP, was declared the winner. Supporters of the NDC candidate, Joseph Kofi Baidoo, allege that key figures within their party colluded with the Electoral Commission (EC) and the NPP to undermine their candidate’s chances.

Outraged by what they called betrayal, the aggrieved supporters, led by a local spiritual leader Nana Yaa, staged a dramatic ritual at the Asupanin River. Using schnapps and eggs, they called on ancestral spirits to bring misfortune – including blindness and fatal accidents upon those they accused of sabotaging the election.

THE NDC GENERAL SECRETARY,  FIFI FIAVI KWETEY.

The allegations include claims that certain NDC executives openly campaigned against Kofi Baidoo, further deepening suspicion of internal sabotage. Some supporters have outrightly rejected the election results, insisting they do not reflect the true will of the people.

The unfolding drama has sparked fear and unease in the constituency as residents grapple with the fallout of the contentious election.
