Centre for Ethical Governance  and Administration (CEGA) has described the NDC’s proposed 24-hour economy policy as a profoundly well thought through master-piece bill to rescue Ghana from all economic decays and development deficit.

At a symposium held in Accra over week, various speakers at the event who spoke on the business and economic impact of the 24-hour policy indicated that the policy was proposed at the right time when Ghana’s economy under Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamoudu Bawumiah has shattered.

According to Hon. Austin Gamey, Lecturer and Labour Dispute Resolution Expert, the 24hr economy policy of the NDC is a profound master-piece to unleash a holistic national development and creation of jobs in all facet of the economy.

To this, he was of the view that the NDC’s 24hr economy policy will usher in development and progression of the country.

THE QUEEN MOTHERS FROM DIFFERENT RELIGIONS GRACED THE SYMPOSIUM.

He added that the 24hr economy indeed needs to be driven by persons who have high quality leadership imbedded in them like Mr. John Mahama and Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.  “This, I know they are coming to deliver that”, he noted.

The Labour Dispute Resolution Expert further stated that if President Mahama should be in a hurry, then within 3 months maximum the policy should kickstart.

He also appealed to the next President John Dramani Mahama led NDC government to establish national ADR across the country to help reduce cases at the law courts.

On his part, COP Bright Oduro Rtd, asserted that this game changer – 24-hour Ecomomic Policy would need an additional 25, 000 more police personnel to the current 42,000.

He said the current number of police personnel, citizen ratio is one officer to eight hundred citizens (1:800) and this does not meet the UN standard of 1: 500, ie. One officer to five hundred citizens.

HON. AUSTIN GAMEY.

COP Oduro Rtd. charged the next NDC government to be led by President Mahama with Prof. Naana Oppoku-Agyemang as Vice-President to retool massively the Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and other Security agencies to help in the running and the successes of the 24hr economy.

He also called for more of CCTV cameras all over the busy roads in the country and other vantage points, followed by massive street lights in everywhere.

Other speakers at the CEGA Symposium such as Prof. Lord Mensah, Snr. Lecturer, University of Ghana Business  School, threw light  on the positive economic implications  the 24hr economy policy is going to come with.

Dr. Tetteh-Dimanya, Financial Economist, stressed that embracing the 24-Hour Economy is the answer to Ghana’s economic woes. He added that the practical definition of a 24-hour economy is an economic system where businesses and services operate continuously or for extended hours beyond the traditional 9-to-5 working day.

The symposium was graced by many professionals from all walks of life, including academicians, artisans,  health practitioners, chiefs and Queen mothers.
