NDC Urges Moral Society to be Interested More in Free, Fair Elections Than PEACE

OPPOSITION NATIONAL Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged the moral society and field based organizations to be interested more in free and fair elections than calling for signing of peace agreement.

National Chairman of the NDC, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah believes these Peace Organisations should rather tackle what  create political/election unrest, and fight it instead of writing to the  NDC offices requesting for meetings to discuss peaceful election.

Ndc National Chairman however indicated that the party always shows commitment in peace agreements, but the NPP ignores it, due to planned electoral violence in the bid to winning the election at all cost.

He reminded the moral society and field based organizations of eight Ghanaians were killed including a 14 years old boy in the 2020 general election by the elements suspected to be within the security services to serve the interest of the ruling NPP party led by Nana Akufo Addo and Dr. Mahamoudu Bawumia.

Chairman Asiedu Nketia stressed that, President Akufo-Addo keeps making utterances simply to undermine the sovereign will of themasses to choose who he wants to be the next president of Ghana.

He retorted that, “sovereignty resides with the people, and only the people must bestow the right to lead on politicians, and not Akufo-Addo!”.

“…moral society, we in the NDC are victims of the Nana Akufo-Addo led governing NPP violent crime. “We in the NDC will continue to work for a peaceful Ghana and protect the interest of the masses”, Mr. Nketia assured.

He further stated that the NDC will not sit unconcern for a repeat of the 2020 election related killings”. “…..never again! We believe it is unfair for any moral society or any field based organization to call on us (the victims) to guarantee the peace of the oppressor”, the NDC emphasized.

The NDC National Chairman further indicated that they are not accepting the proposal by the Jean Adukwei Mensah led Electoral Commission (EC) to run 2024 general election without indelible ink.

This, he bemoaned that it is an election  rigging  strategy for the NPP. Chairman added that EC plans to go into 2024 general elections with the strategy include:
1. No use of indelible ink.
2. Shortage of ballot papers in certain areas.
3. Security during elections to intimidate voters in certain areas all in the quest for voter suppression.

To ththis effect, NDC cautions Jean Mensah, and diametrically opposed to the EC’s decision not to use indelible ink during elections. “We are all aware of the many unanswered questions about the integrity of the voters register too”, he pointed out.

The discontinuation of the use of indelible ink in Ghana’s elections at this stage will open the flood gate for nefarious activities that will compromise the integrity of our election. This problem is exacerbated by the many unanswered questions about the integrity of the voters register, Asiedu Nketia opined.
