The Greater Accra Regional internal NDC Youth and Women’s Wings Delegates conference slated for Friday, 11th November 2022, has retained Madam Felicia Mekpoi Bortey as the Women’s Organiser.
The Conference also promoted the Deputy Youth Organiser and a Journalist, Amos Blessing Amorse to the substantive Youth Organiser position for a 4 year term.
Over hundred NDC youth including Tertiary Institutions Education Network (TEIN) with voting rights joined their women wing to elect who leads them at the youth and women’s fronts in the Greater Accra Region.
The youth overwhelmingly gave Amos Blessing Amorse with 85 votes out of 109 as a promotion to beat his main contender, Solomon Nii Afutu who had 24 votes to the astonishment of many in the region.
Mr. Amorse, now Regional NDC Youth Organiser with huge task ahead of him, is expected to at least woo all the NDC youth who defected to other political parties and are now struggling to recover from the huge disappointment they are still facing as a result of deceitful promises, and to retain others to forster unity and work harder to grab power for the party come 2024 general elections.
The Women’s wing also elected Felicia Mekpoi Bortey with 46 votes to beat her two contenders, Happy Ogboo and Lucy Rio Sebbie with both pulling 26 and 9 votes respectively, out of 81 delegates.
At the two deputy positions, Evelyn Dodzi Dzeketey pulled 38 votes out of 81 and Jessica Patience Braimah had 24 votes whilst Hajia Alimatu Musah Issah the incumbent deputy pulled 18 votes respectively with one rejected ballot. To this, Hajia Alimatu Issah bowed out automatically of the deputy position.
On the deputy youth, about seven (7) strong NDC youth also contested for the two slot of the deputy youth organiser positions. Alhaji Mohammed Judah the incumbent deputy youth organiser retained with 49 votes whilst the incoming Gideon Hammond managed to pull 25 votes following the shift by Amos Amorse to the substantive youth organiser position.
Others who could not make it to the deputy positions were Richard Kweitey Tetteh, 17 votes; Charles Gben, 11; Patrick Faith Ametu, 1; Amira Nasiru, 4 and Edward Mortey, 2.
