The National Democratic Congress, NDC, chief scribe, Johnson Kwadwo Asiedu Nketia has opined that the party needs a National Chairman who cannot be induced at any given time.

Mr. Kwadwo Asiedu Nketia made this statement during the launch of a campaign team for his Chairmanship bid of the party over the week in Accra.
He said, when given the nod as the National Chairman for the NDC, he would ensure the institution of a national emergency agenda to rescue Ghana from the failed NPP government.
According to him, a party like the NDC going into a crucial election in 2024 especially involving the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), that has the penchant for doing anything in desperation for power; a leader, who is fearless and courageous is needed to match them boot for boot.

He explained that, the NPP mastered courage from Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election to kill over 8 and maimed a number of patriotic Ghanaians who wanted to ensure right things were done in the 2020 elections.
According to him,q if elected as the National Chairman, he would bring the NDC back to power and would pursue and secure justice for those who were killed and those who suffered the irresponsible consequences orchestrated by the NPP government before, during and after the 2020 general elections.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia, aka General Mosquito, declared to the fully packed media and the invited dignitaries at the launch in Accra that, he is coming for the Chairmanship position with clear mind and with lots of policies to be implemented in the major interest of the NDC and Ghanaians as a whole.

The NDC Chief scribe, who served the party for 17 years, was of the view that if the party wants to return to power in 2024, a lot of mechanisms must be put in place to achieve that aim and he has that capability to ensure the party’s aims and objectives are realised.
Enumerating some of his achievements for the party, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah said, he brought the party from opposition to power in 2008 and retained power in 2012 and in 2020 general elections, the NPP rigged it with the support of the Electoral Commission (EC) led by Jean Adukwei Mensah who could not tell which figures the NPP won the election with. This, he said, was planned with Jean Mensah before her appointment as EC Boss, by President Akufo-Addo.

Mr. Asiedu Nketia who hinted he has his short falls, further cited other achievements he chalked when he was serving the party. He mentioned amongst others, the party school, Ghana Institute of Social Democracy to train party people in many field of party work.
To this, close to 100 plots of land has been procured at Oyibi on the Dodowa road in the Greater Accra Region to have campus to run many programmes to help the party’s office holders. This institution he added that will be opened to the general public to attend.

Under him, lots of transformation took place which included picking nomination forms by party members who want to aspire for a position in the party to be elected. This has ended confusions that normally characterize picking and submission of forms and payments are made electronically.

Some sections of the NDC Minority Caucus of Parliament pledged their support for Mr. Asiedu Nketia’s bid of the party. The Hon. Member of Parliament for Banda, in the Bono Region, Mr. Ibrahim Ahmed, Deputy Chief Whip of Parliament said Mr. Asiedu Nketiah has mentored a number of them and the man has a lot to offer the party at highest level if he is allowed the Chairmanship position of the party.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia was a Member of Parliament for 12 years for the people of Wenchi West. He was the leader for the Consultative Assembly which helped in the drafting of the 1992 constitution for the fourth republic which is currently running.

Under him, the administrative history of the NDC has been compiled; part of which contains a lot information about Ghana’s history that could be referenced to. This document was also launched as a book.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia worked as a banker, palm wine taper and producer of local Gin, locally called “Akpeteshie” amongst others during his hay days and now a security expert.
