Independence Day Parade: AEMA Students Appealed to Gov’t for  More Textbooks

Students of Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly (AEMA) have appealed to the government to try to provide them with more teaching and learning materials.

The students who made the passionate appeal during the 65th Independence Day Anniversary Parade at the Municipality in Accra, also commended the government for providing them with the Free Senior High School (FSHS) coupled with free feeding amongst many others.

The students indicated that they needed more of the textbooks and other learning resources for them to follow their teachers accordingly to be well-groomed by their teachers.

In addition, the students called on the Nana Akufo-Addo led NPP government to ensure their teachers are well remunerated for them to have the enthusiasm for teaching.

According to Ms. Andreena K. Ampaabeng on behalf the students in the Municipality at 65th Independence Day Parade, their teachers are doing so well to make them responsible adults in future, hence appealing for President Akufo-Addo to also do something to comensorate their efforts.

The Ayawaso East Municipal Chief, Hajia Selma Mohammed Adams Sani-Kuta expressed her gratitude to the participated schools and their teachers for putting up a spectacular performance during the 65th Independence Day Anniversary Parade.

She also acknowledged the security services, especially the Army for their role that ensured the march past went in orderly manner which attracted awarded for the participation schools certificates and trophies according to their performance and resilience.

AEMA MCE called on the youth to take their studies seriously and to exhibite a sense of hardwork in their everyday dealings. She urged them not to be discouraged in the current economic challenges in Ghana.

She challenged the youth to do their best to achieve their dreams which would better position the part they play in developing of the country.

Speaking on this year’s theme for the celebration; “Working Together, Bouncing Back Better”, Hajia Selma Sani-Kuta stated that the theme was appropriate considering the devastating effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.

To this effect, she called on Ghanaians to come together to work to attain a sustainable economic recovery as the Ghana marks her 65th Independence Day Anniversary.

Following the current hardship in the country, Hon. Hajia Selma Sani-Kuta indicated that the government led by President Akufo-Addo is making effort to resuscitate the economy.

All the about 16 schools drawn from public and a private schools in the Municipality were awarded participatory certificates. Out these schools a Municipal Cadet is formed to participate in all the anniversary the municipality will organise.

Ring Road East “1” Basic emerged the overall best school and awarded a trophy for outclassing others in the 65th Independence Day Celebration Parade.

Other schools were also awarded trophies for their outstanding performance during the parade and received additional recognition for their outlook.

Parade Commander, Ms. Pamela Amuzu received a number of awards for her sterling performance as she leads the Municipal Cadet Corp and the parade.

About 447 students took part in the 65th Independence Day Anniversary Parade with over 44 teachers.
