An ex-convict, Freeman Laweh Sogah, a self-styled chief of Sogakofe was reported to have been subjecting the residents of Sogakope in the Sough Tongu District of the Volta Region to inhumane activities.
According to source closed to Nationaltymes.com in the area, the self-styled chief who was ones jailed for stealing 7 piece of tilapia tried to prevent people from burying their corpse at the Sogakofe cemetery.
Ex-Convict Laweh Sogah demands money from the deceased family by forcing before he allows them to their corpse, after they have paid to appropriate authority in the district.
He sometimes threatened to exhume bodies from the grave yard of those whose family would not pay to him again after their permit from the appropriate authority to bury their corpse.
Our information further indicated that the actions of this Laweh Sogah do go down well with the residents who to protest to stop this fake chief from his nefarious activities.
The residents are also suspecting the Sogakofe District Police Commander, DSP Awua-Hene Acheampong for teaming-up with the ‘Torgbi Akpa’, to harass the family of the deceased.
In addition, they accused DSP Awua-Hene of giving protection to the ex-convict Laweh Sogah, even after Volta Regional House of Chiefs warned and placed injunction on him (Laweh Sogah) to stop parading himself as a Chief.
Inspite of this, it appears the injunction and warning from the Regional House Chiefs fell on death ears as the so-called chief kept parading himself as chief of the area.
Some residents who complained to the Nationaltymes.com disclosed several attempts by the “fake” chief to sell their lands to another persons but failed.
To this effect, the residents are calling for his swift arrest and immediate transfer of the District Police Commander, Awua-Hene Acheampong from the District for the necessary peace to prevail in the area.
Earlier, Nationaltymes.com hinted that the ungazzeted self-styled chief has gone to introduce himself to the Sogakofe market women with his American girl friend, Ameera as the legitimate chief and Ameera soon to be development Queen mother for the area, hence demanding that they contribute to him.
