The President of Distinguish Scholars of Africa (Distin-SA), Dr Nana Oppong has discovered that “Authority” is a fifth (5th) and the superior factors of production Ghanaian and Africa as a whole should grab as a cure poverty.

Dr.  Nana Oppong called on Africa governments including Ghana to consider and adopt the “Legal Authority” in this post modern economics as the only tool to build their respective countries’ economy to improve the living conditions of their people.

According to Distin-SA, President, Dr. Nana Oppong  explained that governments in Africa needed to appreciate “legal authority” and use it to the end to build strong economy and  implement the policies to improve the socio-economic of the ordinary Africans in the Sub-region including Ghana.

Launching a new book, ‘Authority’ in Accra, last Wednesday, March 10, 2021, Dr. Oppong reiterated the need for every one who desires for economic freedom to make it a point to grab a copy of the book as its spells out how ‘Authority’ is of essence to achieve this economic freedom.

To this, he said until Ghana and other struggling African countries have control over their national economy nothing can be done to salvage their people from the woes of poverty.

Dr. Nana Oppong hinted that “Authority” comes with characteristics like legitimacy, superiority, finality, continuity and independence or free.

He further established that the most important factor of production in post modern economics is Authority. He explained that, “Authority is more valuable than the other four factors of production combined”.

“…..those nations that have no control or influence over authority are running economies without a head”, he stated.

He alludes that the power, the status, the control, the riches and the benefits the developed countries are enjoying as global authorities would remain with them if no effect made by others to catch up with them.

He urged the marginalized countries to take moral, reasoned, legal and systematic efforts to join that exclusive clubs, though it would not be easy but it is possible.

Dr. Oppong also cautioned that the moment African leaders once get to the halls of power, should remain in and be relevant through innovative contributions.

He however noted that when the marginalized thought of their self-interest when they get opportunity in power they become corruptible, irrelevant and unable to help their people even when given the reins of power.

He made it clear that those who enter the halls of Authority could remain authoritative only by being continuously innovative, relevant and ahead of their peers.

“Authority” has the power to create and to destroy economies but it all depends on the character of those in the lead, Dr. Oppong posited.

He explained that the absence of African and poor nations in the global “Houses of Lords (Authority)” is a great contributor to the continuing failures and poverty of the economies of the African and poor nations”. This he emphasized that was a dangerous phenomenon. “No amount of capital raised or no quantities of natural resources deployed can save the economies of those nations that have no share in the global economic Authority”, he stresses.

Dr. Nana Oppong further likened the economies of the Africans and of the poor nations to, “some rickety bamboo houses on sands or as busy feet without brains”.

“…..it is about time the poor
started taking learned actions to create their Authorities to run their economies, or is high time to wisely demand a proportionate share of Authority to run their economies”, he charged.

He urged Economists, Lawyers, Politicians, Chiefs, Scholars, Priests, Artists and all other persons who care about the poor to come together to ensure that the interest of the poor
are represented on all global Authorities.

The event was chaired by Prof Martin Gyambrah, President, University of Applied Management, Accra.

Others distinguished scholars who helped in the discussion were Dr. Mohammed Marzuk, office of the National Chef Imam, Dr. Victor Mimi, a Nigerian Lawyer, Dr. Bernard Tetteh, an International Financial Expert and Jacob Osei Yeboah, a Presidential candidate.
