THE UNIVERSITY of Education, Winneba (UEW), Ajumako Campus, has honoured 53-year-old Daniel Labasi Biborleki for completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Likpakpaanl Education.
University officials described his achievement as proof that education has no age limit.

They said his success is not only personal but also a source of motivation for adults who had to delay their education because of family or financial challenges. His determination, they noted, breaks age-related stereotypes and shows the power of consistency and discipline.
At a ceremony held at Kpassa in the Oti Region, the Dean of the Faculty of Ghanaian Languages, Professor Samuel Alhassan Issah, commended Biborleki for his dedication.

Prof. Issah urged the youth to take inspiration from his story and to take the study of Ghanaian languages seriously. He said Ghanaian languages are key to education, identity and national development.
In an interview with Nationaltymes.com, Biborleki said he started formal schooling from Class Four at a time he already had a wife and children, but he was determined to pursue higher education.
His graduation in Likpakpaanl Education has been hailed as a boost to the teaching of Ghanaian languages and the preservation of local languages through formal education.

Biborleki appealed to government to support trained Konkomba language teachers by employing qualified graduates, especially in communities where local language instruction can improve teaching and learning.
He said many trained graduates are still unemployed and expressed hope that more attention to Ghanaian language education will improve literacy and academic performance in underserved areas.
