THE GHANA School Feeding Programme (GSFP) is strengthening its partnership with the Ghana Education Service (GES) to improve school feeding delivery nationwide.
This came to light when the National Coordinator of the GSFP, Hajia Fati Forgor, met Regional and District Directors of Education from Upper West, Savannah, Upper East, North East and Northern Regions in Tamale.

The meeting was the third leg of the GSFP’s nationwide sensitisation workshop for GES Directors.
Hajia Fati Forgor stressed that GES support is critical, noting that the Programme cannot succeed without active collaboration with the Education Service.

She admitted the Programme, like any large social intervention, faces some challenges, but said working closely with GES will help identify gaps and find practical solutions at the grassroots.
On expansion, the National Coordinator revealed that government is pushing to achieve universal coverage, with plans to absorb the remaining 30 percent of KG and Primary 1-6 pupils not yet on the Programme.
She added that once full coverage for KG and Primary is achieved, government will explore the possibility of extending school feeding to Junior High Schools.

Hajia Forgor also made a passionate appeal to GES Directors to ensure heads of basic schools provide accurate and timely enrolment data, which she described as key to effective planning and resource allocation.
She thanked the Directors for attending the workshop at short notice, saying it shows their commitment to improving the Programme.
The sensitisation tour will continue with the fourth and final leg in Techiman and Kumasi.
