YOUTH development in Salaga South has received a significant boost as apprentices across the constituency were presented with tools and equipment to enhance their vocational skills and improve employment opportunities.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the area explained that the initiative was carried out on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, in collaboration with her team, party executives, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), the National Youth Authority, and the N.A.P Regional Coordinator.

She described the intervention as part of a broader commitment to empower young people with practical skills that will enable them to become self-reliant and economically productive.

Addressing the apprentices during the presentation ceremony, the MP urged beneficiaries to take their training seriously and remain dedicated until completion. She observed that many young people are eager to complete their apprenticeship within three to four years and quickly establish their own businesses.

According to her, once masters officially pass out their apprentices, the newly trained professionals must strive to build strong reputations within a short period. To further promote excellence, she proposed the introduction of an award scheme to recognize outstanding masters who provide quality training. Such recognition, she noted, would elevate the standards of vocational education in the constituency and ensure that highly skilled masters are widely recommended and respected.

Expressing confidence in the growing skills base within Salaga South, the MP stated that the constituency is steadily building a pool of competent artisans. She remarked that with well-trained seamstresses and other professionals emerging locally, residents would no longer need to travel to Accra for services such as sewing.

She encouraged the community to patronize local businesses, emphasizing that supporting local enterprises will strengthen the constituency’s economy and create more opportunities for skilled workers.

The MP also announced that a second batch of tools and equipment would soon be delivered. She explained that the first phase of the intervention served as a learning process to identify challenges and improve future distributions. The next phase, she assured, would be larger and more impactful.

On behalf of the people of Salaga South, she expressed heartfelt gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for his continued support and commitment to youth empowerment initiatives.
