THE VOLTA Regional House of Chiefs has expressed hope that its meeting with the Minister for the Interior will mark a turning point in strengthening trust, respect, and development in the region.

Members believe that a meaningful engagement with government officials will help clear past misunderstandings, restore confidence in traditional leadership, and position the Volta Region to regain its former glory as a peaceful and respected area.
A delegation from the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, led by the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, paid a courtesy call on the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, at his office in Accra.
The meeting focused on key issues such as regional security, cooperation between traditional authorities and government, and strategies to maintain lasting peace. Hon. James Gunu thanked the Interior Minister for granting the audience and reaffirmed the Volta Region’s readiness to work closely with the Ministry of the Interior and security agencies.

He emphasized that the Volta Region remains peaceful and stable, making it an attractive destination for investors and development partners. Speaking on behalf of the chiefs, the President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of the Anfoega Traditional Area, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, assured the Interior Minister of the chiefs’ full support in maintaining peace and security.
He noted that traditional leaders play a critical role in conflict resolution and community education, adding that national security is a shared responsibility. Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak welcomed the delegation and commended the chiefs for their commitment to peace.

He stressed the importance of collaboration between traditional authorities, local government, and security agencies, assuring the House of Chiefs of the Ministry’s continued support.
The meeting was seen as a positive step toward strengthening mutual respect, improving transparency, and promoting development across the Volta Region.
