THE VOLTA Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, has taken another significant step toward accelerating development in the region by meeting a high-powered delegation of investors from the United States in Sogakope to explore strategic partnerships for growth.

VOLTA  REGIONAL MINISTER,  HON JAMES GUNU.

The delegation was led by Mr. Delali Kotoka and Dr. Isaac Addae of the Conscious Immersion Group and Onyx Group, who expressed strong interest in partnering with the Volta Regional Coordinating Council in key areas such as innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology-driven development.

During the engagement, Hon. Gunu, who was accompanied by the South Tongu District Chief Executive, Hon. Victoria Dzeklo, described the proposed partnership as timely and critical. He stressed that the Volta Region is endowed with vast untapped potential that can be transformed through the right investments, innovation, and technical expertise.

He noted that collaboration with international investors, particularly from the private sector, will help fast-track infrastructure development, job creation, and economic transformation across the region.

The Regional Minister further highlighted the importance of existing sister-city relationships and the numerous opportunities within the Volta Lake Economic Corridor.

According to him, the corridor presents significant prospects in trade, tourism, agro-processing, and logistics, which can only be fully realized through strong and effective public–private partnerships.

Hon. Gunu also emphasized entrepreneurship as a powerful tool for youth empowerment, explaining that investing in innovation and skills development will enable young people to become job creators rather than job seekers.

He said this approach is essential to reducing unemployment and ensuring sustainable, long-term development in the Volta Region.

On their part, the leaders of the U.S. delegation shared updates from their earlier visit to Ghana last year and outlined the progress made so far in mobilizing investments and building networks to support development initiatives, with particular focus on the Volta Region.

They reaffirmed their commitment to bringing practical solutions, technical expertise, and investment opportunities to the region, while seeking the Regional Minister’s support and blessings as they prepare to roll out initiatives expected to positively impact local communities.

Members of the delegation included Mr. Frederick Cawthon, Chief Executive Officer of Biocatalysis Solution; Dr. Kim Scott, Director of International Programmes at Elizabeth City State University; Ms. Tracy Adams, Engineer and Entrepreneur at Elizabeth City State University; and Mr. Robert Turner, Manager of Innovation Programmes at the TSU Division of Sponsored Research.

Both the Volta Regional Minister and the visiting investors reaffirmed their shared commitment to building strong and lasting partnerships that will attract investment, create jobs, promote innovation, and drive sustainable development across the Volta Region.
