THE NYE Awo Kpakpa Shidda Football Tournament has successfully come to an end, with Adjeman Team emerging champions after a thrilling final match against their strong rivals, La Court Team.

The exciting encounter brought joy, unity, and pride to the people of the La Dade-Kotopon Municipality. The over a month-long tournament was played every Monday evening at the La Town Park and featured eight community teams.

The teams included Gormli, Town Park, Kaklamadu, La Court, Adjeman, Aviation, Salem, and Bulemli. The competition was played on a straight knockout basis, making each match intense and highly competitive.

Adjeman Team demonstrated great skill and determination throughout the tournament and eventually lifted the trophy. They also received a cash prize of GH¢5,000. The runners-up, La Court Team, took home GH¢3,000. Additionally, all participating teams received an appearance fee of GH¢1,000 before the start of the competition.

Each team was also presented with a full set of jerseys, socks, and two footballs to support training and player development. Several dignitaries graced both the opening ceremony and the grand finale of the tournament.

Hon. Alfredos Nii Anyetei joined Hon. Rita Odoley Sowah, Member of Parliament for La Dade-Kotopon, to present the trophy to the winning team.

According to Hon. Rita Odoley Sowah, the tournament was organized to appreciate the communities for their continued support and to help identify and develop young football talents within the constituency.

She noted that many talented young people lack opportunities to showcase their skills and expressed hope that the tournament would attract scouts and bigger clubs to support their future and improve their livelihoods.

Dignitaries who attended the opening ceremony included Hon. Kofi Adams, Minister for Sports and Recreation; former Black Stars player Jonathan Quartey; and Hon. Suleiman Adams, MP for the Tain Constituency.

Other dignitaries present were Hon. Rev. Kweku Addo (Ablekuma West), Hon. Abdul Rauf Tabazu (MP for Ayawaso Central), Hon. Sedem Afenyo (Amasaman), and Hon. Felix Akwetey Okle (Bortianor–Ngleshie Amanfro).
