THE OFFICE of the Member of Parliament for South Tongu, Hon. Maxwell Kwame Lukutor, has firmly dismissed a series of allegations circulating in the public domain and on internal party platforms, describing them as unsubstantiated and misleading.
In a statement issued by the MP’s office, the allegations—attributed to Mr. Gati Michael—include claims that the MP influenced the termination of Mr. Michael’s appointment at the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), that regional party executives were complicit, and that supporters of the MP had threatened Mr. Michael’s safety.
The statement categorically clarifies that Hon. Lukutor has no authority or involvement in appointments, confirmations, or dismissals at NADMO. The organization operates under the Ministry of the Interior, and recent policy directives require that certain officers meet specific academic and professional qualifications.
According to the MP’s office, decisions relating to eligibility and disengagement are strictly institutional matters handled by NADMO and the Ministry, without any influence from the MP.
The Office of the MP also strongly rejected claims of threats or intimidation, stressing that Hon. Lukutor has never sanctioned or encouraged any form of harassment against Mr. Michael or any individual. It noted that no formal complaint or evidence of such threats has been submitted to the MP’s office or to the appropriate authorities.
Additionally, the statement recalled that similar allegations have been made in the past by Mr. Michael without credible evidence, including claims of attacks on party officials, which were publicly denied.
The MP’s office expressed concern that the continued spread of unverified claims could create unnecessary tension, undermine party unity, and erode public confidence in state institutions.

While reaffirming Hon. Lukutor’s commitment to dialogue, tolerance, and due process, the statement emphasized that deliberate misinformation would be addressed through the appropriate party and state channels.
Hon. Maxwell Kwame Lukutor, the statement concluded, remains focused on his core mandate of serving the people of South Tongu, promoting peace and unity, upholding the rule of law, and advancing sustainable development across the constituency.
