THE MEMBER of Parliament for Pru East in the Bono East Region, Hon. Emmanuel Kwaku Boam, has announced major improvements in security and development during the 2025 Yeji Kajuji Festival.
Speaking to the chiefs and people of Yeji, the MP described the town as one of the most active market centres in the region, serving traders and communities from far and near.
He acknowledged that the area has recently faced cases of theft and armed robbery but assured the public that strong measures have been taken to combat the problem.
Hon. Boam revealed that 50 police officers have been deployed to Yeji and its neighbouring communities to strengthen security. He added that the initiative is part of a wider effort involving Atebubu, Pru West, and other nearby towns, all working together to support the police in fighting crime.
He also pointed out that there are now about 15 police checkpoints along the Amanten–Yeji stretch, a move aimed at improving surveillance and ensuring the safety of travellers and traders.
On development, the MP announced that the area has large tracts of land available for agricultural investment. He noted that Chinese investors, introduced by the Minister for Trade and Agribusiness, have shown interest in these opportunities.
However, he emphasized that meaningful development can only take place in a peaceful environment. He called for unity and cooperation between the people of Yeji and Kadue to support progress.
Hon. Boam further disclosed that the Minister for Education has pledged to begin a new dormitory project for Yeji Technical Senior High School—an initiative expected to boost education in the community.
