THE MEMBER of Parliament for Biakoye Constituency, Hon. Jean-Marie Formadi, has celebrated hardworking teachers at the Biakoye Teachers’ Excellence Awards held at Bowiri Kwame-Krom in the Oti Region.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Formadi praised teachers for their dedication to shaping young minds, preserving the district’s culture and guiding the future of the constituency.

She shared her own experience as a former teacher in a rural community in the Manya Krobo District of the Eastern Region, where she walked long distances to school and worked under difficult conditions with no network, no electricity and dusty roads.
She explained that because she has visited all the communities in the constituency, she understands the daily challenges teachers face.
According to her, the awards are meant to motivate teachers to continue giving their best. “When teachers feel appreciated, they are encouraged to do even more,” she said.

The Oti Regional Director of Education, Madam Jacquelinda Attabra, applauded the Biakoye Education Directorate and the MP for introducing the award scheme. She stressed that investing in teachers is an investment in the future of the district.
Madam Attabra noted that teachers are the backbone of every strong education system, adding that no infrastructure or digital tools can replace a motivated and respected teacher in the classroom.

She said teachers shape character and drive positive change in society, and rewarding them is not just ceremonial but strategic, as it reinforces dignity and encourages excellence.
Mr. Kelvin Takando Ndolimor, Headteacher of Toviate D/A Primary School, was named the Overall Best Teacher in the Biakoye District. He received a double-door refrigerator, a flat-screen television and a citation.

Other awardees also received items including refrigerators, washing machines, 32-inch televisions, citations and certificates for their hard work and dedication.
