THE GHANA Revenue Authority (GRA) has launched an investigation into allegations that some officers of the Customs Division Task Force in the Ashanti Region extorted money from traders.
This follows complaints from the Traders Advocacy Group Ghana (TAGG), which reported that certain officers intercepted containers heading to Kumasi, claimed the goods were undervalued, and allegedly demanded extra payments. The affected importer reportedly insisted that the claims and the payments demanded were not justified.
In a statement issued in Accra on Thursday, 27th November 2025, the GRA said it is taking the allegations seriously and has begun a full internal investigation to establish the facts. The Authority assured the public that the findings will be made known once the process is completed.
The GRA reaffirmed its commitment to integrity, fairness, and transparency in its operations. It also encouraged traders and the general public to report any suspected wrongdoing by its officers through the Authority’s official reporting channels.
