THE PUBLIC Relations Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Abdul-Wahab Jawando, has stressed that the agency now truly serves the youth of Ghana under its current CEO, Malik Basintale, and the NDC government.
Speaking on Ahotor 93.2 FM, Mr. Jawando said YEA has introduced a transparent, online recruitment system (www.yea.gov.gh) to remove human interference and ensure fairness for all applicants. He noted that the new leadership is focused on expanding opportunities and creating sustainable jobs for the youth.
He also pointed out that the previous NPP administration under Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia operated the YEA with strong political influence.
According to him, this history is what is now driving some “faceless NPP elements” to wrongly attack Malik Basintale, whom he described as “the youth president” because of his dedication and the rapid progress the agency is making.
Mr. Jawando revealed that YEA has already deployed about 12,000 police assistants and 5,000 prison assistants who graduated last week, to support national security agencies.

Thousands of youth with little or no formal education would also been enrolled in apprenticeship programmes in carpentry, masonry, electricals, welding, hairdressing, and other trades. These trainees will receive monthly stipends and will later be equipped with start-up kits and capital to establish their own businesses and train others.
He further highlighted a new initiative — the Community Medical First Response Module, introduced by Basintale. Out of 6,000 recruits under this module, the final batch of 2,000 will pass out next week after completing training by the Ghana Ambulance Service.
Mr. Jawando added that the Ghana National Fire Service has completed training for 5,000 YEA personnel. A teaching assistant module is also available for qualified applicants.
He emphasised that all these achievements have been recorded within 10 to 11 months of the John Dramani Mahama-led NDC administration, with beneficiary institutions fully involved in preparing recruits to meet professional standards.
According to the PRO Abdul-Wahab Jawando, the minimum monthly allowance for YEA personnel starts from GH¢800.
