THE KWAHU Traditional Council has dismissed reports circulating in the media claiming that Nana Adwoa Gyamfuah III, the Paramount Queen Mother of Kwahu, has been abducted.
In a statement issued on November 17, 2025, the Council described the reports as “completely false” and said the public should disregard them.
According to the Council, the confusion began after the Ghana Police Service acted on a court order issued on June 24, 2024, by the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs. The injunction was in favour of Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, the substantive Kwahuhene, to maintain peace at the Abene Palace.
The injunction restrains Baffour Osei Akoto, who has been presenting himself as Kwahuhene, and others, from interfering with the work and duties of Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II.
The Council said police were only carrying out the court order to prevent clashes that could threaten lives in Kwahu.
The statement stressed that the Queen Mother does not live at the Abene Palace, and none of the people arrested were with her. The Council said clearly that no abduction has taken place.

The Traditional Council further alleged that the Queen Mother had mobilized thugs in an attempt to forcibly take over the Abene Palace and had issued threats that could disrupt the work of the recognized Kwahuhene.
All persons arrested during the police operation are currently in lawful custody and are safe, the Council said.
The statement also included a copy of the official order from the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs for public reference.
The Council urged the media and the public to avoid spreading false information that could create unnecessary tension in the area.
