PRESIDENT JOHN DRAMANI MAHAMA.

Story By: Emmanuel Anyigba

THE MEMBER of Parliament for Ada, Hon. Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe, has applauded the government for stabilizing the Ghanaian cedi against the US dollar.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament, she dismissed claims by the Minority that the cedi has hit GHS17 to a dollar, stating that Ghanaians can see the real situation for themselves. According to her, the cedi is currently performing well by global standards, and the government deserves credit for its efforts.

Hon. Cudjoe emphasized the need to educate market women and traders on how to handle and appreciate the local currency. She explained that confidence and perception play a big role in how a currency is valued.

Sharing her personal experience at a recent Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) event, she said she presented herself confidently and won a leadership role, despite being seen as less experienced. She urged Ghanaians to take similar pride in the cedi.

The Ada MP also praised the Governor of the Bank of Ghana and other financial institutions for working hard to safeguard the currency. She called for continued commitment to ensure long-term stability of the cedi for the benefit of future generations.
