PRESIDENT John Dramani Mahama, upon the recommendation of the Police Council, has approved the promotion of Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Mr. Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, to the high rank of Commissioner of Police (COP).
The promotion, announced by the Inspector-General of Police at a brief ceremony in Accra, recognizes COP Teye-Cudjoe’s dedication, professionalism, and impressive results during his service — especially his current tenure in the Ashanti Region.
A trained architect and lawyer, COP Teye-Cudjoe is known for his discipline, attention to detail, and firm but cordial leadership style, which has earned him the respect of both his superiors and junior officers.
Since taking over as Ashanti Regional Commander in February 2025, he has led several successful operations, including a strong crackdown on armed robbery and violent crime, restoring calm and boosting public confidence in the Police Service.

The IGP praised him as an officer who lives by the core values of the Service and expressed confidence that COP Teye-Cudjoe would continue to serve with excellence in his new role.
Following the promotion, COP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe has been transferred to Accra to head the Police Professional Standards Bureau as Director-General.
