GHANA’S Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, is representing the country at the 2025 World Food Prize Summit currently underway in Des Moines, Iowa, USA.
The high-level international event, also known as the Norman E. Borlaug International Dialogue, runs from October 20 to 24 at the Iowa Events Center. It brings together global leaders, policymakers, scientists, farmers, and industry players to explore solutions for achieving food security in a changing world.
This year’s summit is themed “SOILutions for Security”, highlighting the critical role of soil health and sustainable farming practices in ensuring long-term food and nutrition security, especially in the face of climate change.
Hon. Opoku is engaging with other agriculture ministers, researchers, and agribusiness leaders to discuss innovative technologies and policies that can improve food systems, particularly in developing countries like Ghana. His participation reflects Ghana’s continued commitment to sustainable agriculture, food production, and boosting export potential.
Beyond the main dialogue, the summit includes farm tours, expert panels, side events, and networking sessions — all designed to build strong partnerships across the global agricultural value chain.
The World Food Prize Summit remains one of the most respected platforms for advancing food security globally, celebrating the legacy of Nobel Laureate Dr. Norman Borlaug, whose work revolutionized global food systems.
