THE AMENFI Central District in the Western Region has officially launched a week-long Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign with a colourful health walk and free health screenings in Manso Amenfi, the district capital.

The campaign, dubbed “Amenfi Central Goes Pink,” aims to raise awareness about breast cancer and encourage early detection among residents.

The launch event brought together community members, health professionals, departmental heads, traditional leaders, and other key stakeholders.

Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, led the campaign and urged the public to set aside political differences and unite in the fight against breast cancer.

“Let’s forget our political affiliations and focus on saving lives. Early detection is key, and we must educate ourselves and others,” she said.

The event began with a health walk through the streets of Manso Amenfi, followed by free medical screenings that allowed participants to check their health status and receive vital information on breast cancer symptoms and prevention.

Health professionals were on hand to offer breast examinations and educate attendees on self-check practices and when to seek medical attention.

Breast cancer remains one of the leading causes of death among women in Ghana. Awareness campaigns like this help break the stigma, encourage timely screening, and potentially save lives.

The campaign will run throughout the week, featuring community engagements, radio discussions, school outreach, and more health screenings across the district.

Organisers hope the initiative will empower more people—especially women—to prioritise their health and seek early treatment when necessary
