By: Mohammed Amin Lamptey (Sports Journalist)

THE GHANA Football Association (GFA) took a decisive step in November 2024 by dissolving the previous Black Stars Management Committee after Ghana failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Many football observers considered this a necessary move to usher in more proactive and focused leadership.

In its place, a new Management Committee was appointed, led by seasoned football administrator, Dr. Randy Abbey, with a clear mandate to restore confidence and guide the Black Stars back to success.

The Committee Members:
– Dr. Randy Abbey (Chairman) – Leads strategic engagements with government and key stakeholders.
– Stephen Appiah (Vice Chairman) – Focuses on player relations and team cohesion.
– Samuel Aboabire & Moses Armah “Packa” – Responsible for operations, matchday logistics, and coordinating with sponsors.
– Richard Nsenkyire – Handles special assignments and support duties.

What They Do:
We also urge the Committee, especially Dr. Abbey, to take centre stage on Sunday — updating Ghanaians on progress and leading fan engagement. This match presents an opportunity to rebuild national unity around the Black Stars, correct misconceptions, and re-ignite belief in Ghanaian football.

Kudos to the entire Management Committee — your hard work is being noticed. Ghana appreciates your commitment.

The committee is tasked with overseeing all administrative and logistical aspects of the Black Stars. This includes coordinating with the technical team, managing camping arrangements, ensuring timely release of funds, maintaining strong relationships with partners, and developing team activity schedules.

THE LOOP’s Take:
Under Dr. Abbey’s leadership, the committee has been active, visible, and professional—qualities needed during a crucial World Cup qualification campaign. His ability to manage internal and external pressures has provided stability at a time when the team needs it most.

Vice Chairman Stephen Appiah, with his rich playing experience, has helped strengthen communication and discipline within the squad.

The rest of the team, including Aboabire and Armah, have efficiently handled operational duties, setting a strong foundation ahead of Sunday’s must-win clash against Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium.

DR. RANDY ABBEY.

A Call for Recognition:
As the Black Stars prepare for this crucial qualifier, THE LOOP believes the current Management Committee deserves public recognition and support. Their behind-the-scenes efforts have helped restore focus and discipline in the team.
