WITH JUST days to the crucial parliamentary election rerun in Ablekuma North, the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has intensified its campaign efforts in the constituency, aiming to secure victory in the rerun slated for Thursday, July 11, 2025.

On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, the NDC National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, led a spirited mini rally at the popular Awoshie Baah Yard, drawing a massive crowd of enthusiastic party supporters and residents. The event forms part of the party’s final push to mobilize voters ahead of the high-stakes election.

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah, who also serves as the Board Chairman of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, passionately called on constituents to turn out in their numbers and vote overwhelmingly for the NDC parliamentary candidate, Ewurabena Aubynn.

He noted that securing the Ablekuma North seat is crucial for deepening development in the area and consolidating the NDC government’s “Reset Agenda” led by President John Dramani Mahama.

“This is not just about Ablekuma North; it’s about securing a stronger voice for the government’s Reset Agenda that is already transforming lives across the nation,” he declared, urging voters to rally behind Ewurabena Aubynn.

The July 11 rerun was ordered by the Electoral Commission following a protracted electoral dispute over the December 2024 parliamentary elections. The EC annulled results from 19 polling stations in the constituency, citing irregularities that could affect the final outcome. The rerun seeks to produce a legitimate representative for the constituency in Parliament.

The mini rally was also graced by top government and party officials, including the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Ohenewaa Akweley Ocloo, Regional Organizer Anthony Nukpeku, Greater Accra Regional Zongo Caucus Magajiya Hajia Lami Ibrahim, the NDC’s parliamentary candidate Ewurabena Aubynn, the Ablekuma North Constituency Chairman, and several Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).

Hajia Lami Ibrahim, the influential Greater Accra Zongo Caucus Magajiya, also took center stage at the rally, passionately urging Zongo communities within the constituency to come out in full force to vote for the NDC.

Hajia Lami, who doubles as the Greater Accra Regional NADMO Coordinator, emphasized the importance of unity, noting that the Reset Agenda offers hope for Zongo residents through enhanced social interventions, youth empowerment initiatives and educational support. Her call was met with resounding approval from the crowd, particularly women and youth groups.

Speakers at the rally emphasized the importance of the rerun, highlighting how an NDC victory would accelerate developmental projects such as roads, sanitation, job creation, and youth empowerment in Ablekuma North.

Addressing the crowd, Ewurabena Aubynn assured constituents of her readiness to provide effective representation and champion their needs in Parliament.

“Ablekuma North deserves development, respect and responsive leadership. I stand ready to deliver that and more,” she pledged.

As the countdown to the rerun intensifies, the political atmosphere in Ablekuma North is heating up, with many residents seeing the poll as a decisive moment for their future.

The Electoral Commission has reiterated its commitment to ensuring a transparent, credible and peaceful process on voting day.

All eyes are now firmly fixed on Ablekuma North as the constituency prepares to vote in a race that could have significant political implications nationally.
