
THE GHANA Free Zones Authority (GFZA) hosted a business meeting with German logistics company Bremer Lloyd on May 8, 2025, to discuss the firm’s interest in establishing operations in Ghana, and obtaining a Free Zone Enterprise license.
The meeting, held at the GFZA Head Office in Accra, meant to facilitate Bremer Lloyd’s entry into Ghana’s logistics sector under the Free Zones Scheme.
Dr. Mary Awusi, Chief Executive Officer of GFZA, highlighted the numerous opportunities available for logistics businesses within the Free Zones Scheme; and emphasized the growing potential of Free Zone Enterprises in the service sector.

She also noted Ghana’s ongoing efforts to implement Special Economic Zones, which present significant prospects for the country’s investment landscape.
Ms. Anita Novi Quashie, Director for Marketing and Investment Promotion at GFZA, outlined the Scheme’s incentive regime and the requirements for acquiring a license.
She assured Bremer Lloyd of the necessary support and investor facilitation services throughout the process.
On his part, Mr. Demetrius Sackmann, General Manager of Bremer Lloyd, expressed the company’s readiness to meet the necessary requirements and looked forward to a seamless onboarding process.

Also present at the meeting was Mr. Richard Ekow Mensah from the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Ghana (AHK Ghana), underscoring the collaborative efforts to strengthen Ghana-Germany trade relations.
The GFZA’s engagement with Bremer Lloyd aligns with its mission to attract foreign investment and promote Ghana as a strategic logistics hub in West Africa.
