THE MEMBER of Parliament for Ayawaso East, Lawyer Mohammed Ahmed Baba Jamal, has honoured a GH¢70,000 promise he made to youth in the constituency.

The MP made the promise about a fortnight ago during the graduation ceremony of a skills training programme organized by the constituency NDC Women’s Organizer, Hajia Rukaya Adams, affectionately called Mama Ruki.
The training was aimed at equipping young people, especially ladies, with various employable skills to make them self-reliant.

Today, Jumah Mubarak, the MP together with the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Abdul Ganiyu Ibrahim, fulfilled the promise by presenting startup capital to the beneficiaries to buy petty tools and materials needed to start their own work.

In all, 60 beneficiaries each received GH¢1,000. Their trainer, Madam Fauziya, received GH¢5,000 while the organizer of the programme, Hajia Rukaya Adams, also received GH¢5,000 for her efforts.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Nationaltymes.com, Hon. Lawyer Baba Jamal, who abandoned his appointment as Ghana’s Envoy to Nigeria to represent the people of Ayawaso East in Parliament, said the people of the constituency need total transformation and better representation.

According to him, the startup capital is from the Common Fund which belongs to the people, and it must be used to change lives. He said when the youth are empowered with work, it will help reduce social vices, prevent them from sitting idle, and help erase the bad name associated with Nima.
He said today, Ayawaso East is witnessing gradual but fast transformation in roads and other infrastructure, some of which were refurbished and commissioned during the week.

Lawyer Baba Jamal emphasized that he cannot work without the MCE, Hon. Abdul Ganiyu Ibrahim, also known as Mallam Fari and affectionately called Nima President because of his hard work.
He said everything happening in Ayawaso East is teamwork, based on a shared understanding and vision to change the narrative about Nima and make it a star constituency.
