A NEW book on immigration law written by Ghanaian lawyer Wonder Victor Kutor is drawing attention for offering practical guidance to people seeking study, work, or migration opportunities abroad.

The book, titled Immigration Formulae: Rules, Packaging and Strategy, provides a detailed but easy-to-understand guide to immigration processes for countries such as the United States, United Kingdom and Canada.
According to him, the 210-page publication was written to fill a major gap in immigration education, as there are very few accessible materials that clearly explain immigration laws and visa procedures for ordinary people. Lawyer Kutor explained that many people struggle with visa applications because immigration rules are often complex and confusing.
His book therefore focuses on simplifying the process and helping applicants understand how to properly prepare their documents and applications. The author explains that most successful visa applications are built on three important elements: intention, rules and honesty.
Immigration officers, he notes, carefully assess an applicant’s intention through documents and interviews. Applicants must also understand the specific rules attached to each visa category. Above all, honesty is essential because providing false information or misrepresenting facts can lead to visa refusals or even long-term travel bans.

The book also focuses on practical issues that many migrants face. It provides guidance for students and professionals seeking opportunities abroad, including programmes such as Optional Practical Training (OPT), which allows international graduates—especially engineers and STEM students—to gain work experience after studying in the United States.
It further explains important topics such as visa refusals, strong ties to one’s home country, and the risk of inadmissibility, which can prevent a person from entering another country. The book also touches on asylum laws and the legal conditions under which individuals may seek protection abroad.
In an interview with Nationaltymes.com, the author indicated that many applicants wrongly assume that information from past visa refusals disappears over time. However, he explains that immigration records can be retrieved at any time by immigration authorities, making it important for applicants to provide accurate and truthful information from the beginning.

The book includes 37 practical exhibits and real-life examples designed to guide readers through different stages of the immigration process. These examples provide readers with a clearer understanding of how immigration systems work and how applicants can properly present their cases.
Written from a Ghanaian perspective, the book also addresses the challenges many Ghanaians face when seeking opportunities abroad. The author believes that having the right information can help people avoid mistakes and follow lawful pathways when applying for visas.
With increasing interest among young Africans to study, work and travel abroad, Immigration Formulae: Rules, Packaging and Strategy is expected to become a valuable resource for students, professionals and immigration practitioners.
