MR. ISSAH Ali Wonder, a key voice in West Africa’s fight against alcohol, tobacco, and drug abuse, has been recognized in Nigeria for his exceptional leadership and commitment to public health.
Mr. Issah Ali, Head of the Secretariat of the West African Alcohol Policy Alliance (WAAPA) and Executive Director of Vision for Alternative Development (VALD) in Ghana, has received the Outstanding Drug and Substance Abuse Prevention Personality Award from the African Youths Initiative on Crime Prevention (AYICRIP).
The award was presented in Abuja at the 11th National Youth Summit on Drug and Substance Abuse Prevention by a representative of the Inspector General of Police of the Nigeria Police Service.
Mr. Ali’s work has significantly influenced alcohol, tobacco, and drug policies across West Africa. Through strong advocacy, technical support, youth empowerment, and community engagement, he has consistently pushed for safer and healthier societies.

WAAPA praised his dedication, saying they are proud of the impact he continues to make in reducing and preventing substance abuse and protecting lives across the region.
