
THE ENVIRONMENTAL Protection Agency (EPA) has held a public hearing on the proposed Keta Port Development Project to gather views and concerns from the public and key stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, the Board Chairman of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) and National Chairman of the NDC, Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, assured the public of the Authority’s commitment to carry out the project responsibly and with community involvement.

The Keta Port project is expected to boost the local economy, create jobs, and bring development to the Volta Region. Hon. Asiedu Nketiah called on residents, opinion leaders, and institutions to support the project for the benefit of future generations.
Other important figures at the hearing included the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Etornam Gunu; Director-General of the Ghana Maritime Authority, Prof. Ransford Edward Gyampo; and Executive Director of the EPA, Prof. Henry Kwesi Klutsey.


The EPA assured the public that all suggestions and technical feedback from the hearing would be included in the final Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) report to guide the project.
After the hearing, Hon. Asiedu Nketiah and the GPHA Board visited the proposed site to get a clearer understanding of the area where the port will be built.
