THE USA Zango Caucus has praised President John Dramani Mahama and the Pilgrimage Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG) for their decision to significantly reduce the 2026 Hajj fare to GH¢60,000.
In a heartfelt message by the deputy Zango Coordinator, Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Gedel, the group described the move as a compassionate and historic gesture that brings hope to many Muslims, especially those in Zango and low-income communities who have long struggled to afford the sacred journey to Mecca.

“This reduction is more than just financial relief — it restores dignity and inclusiveness to our Muslim Ummah,” he noted.
The message applauded President Mahama’s empathy-driven leadership, saying it shows his deep understanding of the religious and social needs of Ghanaian Muslims. The group added that such efforts reflect his long-standing commitment to fairness, respect, and national unity.
The Deputy USA Zongo Caucus also commended the PAOG for its professionalism and transparency in managing Hajj processes, which have helped strengthen public confidence.

“As Ghanaians living abroad, we see this as a proud moment and a call to support efforts that promote compassion, interfaith harmony, and national development,” Dr. Gedel said.
He concluded with prayers for President Mahama’s continued strength and for peace and prosperity in Ghana.
