THE PILGRIMS Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG) has named seasoned media professional and respected Muslim community figure, Alhaji Mohammed Aminu Lamptey Hussein, as its new Director of Communications.
Alhaji Lamptey brings to the role over two decades of experience in journalism, public relations, and media management. His appointment is seen as a strategic move to strengthen PAOG’s communication efforts ahead of Hajj 2026.
He is no stranger to the office, having served as Deputy Communications Director from 2013 to 2017 under the leadership of Hon. Alhaji Abdul-Rauf Tanko Ibrahim. During that time, he worked alongside Hon. Alhaji Alhassan Suhuyini, with the duo being credited for building one of the most effective communication teams in PAOG history.
Alhaji Lamptey received national praise for his calm and effective handling of crisis communication during the 2015 Mina stampede, ensuring clarity and timely updates to families and stakeholders.
He is also remembered for innovations such as daily flight updates and real-time communication with pilgrims in both Ghana and Saudi Arabia — initiatives that deepened trust and transparency.
Outside the Hajj Office, Alhaji Lamptey has served as a lecturer in Journalism, PR, Marketing, and Communication for the past eight years, as well as a strategic communications consultant.
He also held the position of Director of Communications for the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), where he became a household name as a leading ring announcer and boxing commentator.
In 2023, he played a key role in managing a major brand crisis at Marwako Fast Food Limited as Public Relations Manager, helping to stabilize public perception and relaunch operations.

Fluent in multiple Ghanaian languages and known for his eloquence in English, Alhaji Mohammed Aminu Lamptey Hussein is also a popular Master of Ceremony (MC) at high-level national events.
His return to PAOG is expected to bring renewed energy and professionalism to the office’s public engagement efforts, strengthen communication with stakeholders, and enhance the overall image and transparency of Hajj operations in Ghana.
