PRESIDENT John Dramani Mahama has sworn in 14 new Justices to the Court of Appeal as part of efforts to strengthen Ghana’s judiciary and enhance the delivery of justice.
The swearing-in ceremony was held in Accra on Tuesday, bringing together judicial officers and key stakeholders in the justice sector.
The newly appointed Justices are:
Justice Senyo Amedahe (Koforidua High Court), Justice Olivia Boeng Owusu, Justice Douglas Seidu, Justice Ali Baba Bature, Justice Mariama Samo, Justice Abena Adzin Doku, Justice Mary Maame Akua Yanzu, Justice Justin Dorgu, Justice George Boadi, Justice Ayitey Armah-Tetteh, Justice Jennifer Anne Myers Ahmed, Justice John Bosco Nabaresse, Justice Kwasi Anokye Gyimah, and Justice Richmond Osei Hwere.
President Mahama congratulated the new Justices and urged them to uphold the highest standards of integrity, fairness, and professionalism in their work.
He emphasized the critical role the judiciary plays in safeguarding democracy and promoting public confidence in the justice system.
The appointments come at a time when the judiciary is under increasing pressure to speed up case resolution and improve access to justice. The new Justices are expected to help reduce case backlogs and contribute meaningfully to judicial reforms already underway.
In his address, President Mahama urged the newly sworn-in Justices to uphold integrity, impartiality, and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
