THE MEMBER of Parliament for Salaga South, Hon. Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has reaffirmed her commitment to environmental protection and climate action following her participation in the 2nd Africa Climate Summit (ACS2) held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

As Treasurer of the Climate Parliament Caucus, Hajia Zuwera said the summit deepened her understanding of the growing threats posed by climate change and highlighted the urgent need for immediate and united action across the continent.

Her experience at the summit is already influencing her efforts in the Salaga South Constituency, particularly in forest restoration. She has pledged to lead reforestation initiatives in areas like Akumade, where deforestation has caused environmental damage and affected livelihoods.

Some key takeaways from her participation in the summit include:

– Urgency of Climate Action: The summit emphasized the real dangers of inaction — such as biodiversity loss, food insecurity, and increased natural disasters.

– Need for Collaboration: Hajia Zuwera stressed that collective action is critical in addressing climate challenges and protecting vulnerable communities.

– Local Restoration Initiatives: Her plan to restore forest cover through reforestation and afforestation projects aligns with global climate goals and will help improve local ecosystems.

HON. HAJIA ZUWERA MOHAMMED IBRAHIMAH.

Hajia Zuwera’s leadership role in the Parliamentary Climate Committee places her in a strategic position to influence policies and advocate for sustainable development across Ghana.

She called on local communities to support climate-friendly practices and pledged to share knowledge gained from the summit to inspire action at both the grassroots and national levels.
