
THE DIRECTOR General of the Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA), Dr. Kamal-Deen Ali has paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lt. Gen. William Agyapong, at Burma Camp in Accra on Thursday, 31st July 2025.
The visit aimed to strengthen collaboration between the GMA and the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), particularly in maritime security, safety, and strategic operations involving the Ghana Navy, Air Force, and the Engineer Regiment.

Dr. Ali noted the Ghana Navy’s longstanding partnership with the Authority at both policy and operational levels and emphasized the need to formalize and deepen the relationship.
He also praised the Air Force’s vital role in maritime search and rescue operations, including the use of patrol aircraft.

He highlighted potential collaboration with the Engineer Regiment to improve safety and support transport operations on the Volta Lake.
Lt. Gen. Agyapong congratulated Dr. Ali on his appointment and reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ commitment to supporting national development through stronger inter-agency cooperation.

He acknowledged capacity challenges and assured the GMA of the military’s continued support to enhance operational effectiveness.
